I'd say no, because he's just predicting who's going to win the match.

Above; Paul the Octopus predict that the Spaniards will win the Final match against the Netherlands. It's true though . but i don't think that way . When the Netherlands knew about the Octopus. They're scared because his predictions were always right. So then,their mentality changed. So, when your mentality changed. You're/your team not gona be able to play well and when your team is not gona be able to play well , you'll lose.

because there was a fight in the changing room between the French coach and the French player ,Nicolas Anelka. So then , the French lost their spirit(because of mentality) in the second half.

So, to be a great footballer , your mentality must be right at all times .
